Travel to Slovenia
Fly to Venice (Italy), transfer to Lake Bohinj
Begin your Slovenian adventure with a flight to Venice Airport in Italy. On arrival you will be met by our representative and will travel by coach over the border to Slovenia towards your hotel in Lake Bohinj (Driving distance 304 km / approximate duration 4 hours and 30 minutes including comfort stops)
Arrive at your hotel
You will arrive to your hotel in Lake Bohinj today. Lake Bohinj is the largest lake in Slovenia, covering an area of 318 hectares. It is located within the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps and is part of Triglav National Park in northwest Slovenia.

Orientation meeting & Walking day 1
Orientation meeting
This morning you will have an orientation meeting with your local expert walking guides. On each walking day throughout your holiday there will be a choice of either a moderate or a challenging walking route. During the orientation meeting your local expert walking guides will discuss the kind of distance and terrain you can expect for both walking options, and the level of physical fitness required to join either the moderate or the challenging route.
Moderate Route
Let’s uncover Slovenia’s mountains! Today’s moderate walking route will take in Voje Valley and Mostnica gorge. The Mostnica gorge is the perfect example of the creative and powerful forces of nature. The Mostnica stream has carved out a narrow 2km gorge above the village Stara Fuzina in Bohinj. We can admire the extraordinary rock shapes and pools that the water has created in the gorge as we follow the crystal-clear stream, encountering gorge walls of up to 20m in height. In some places the stream bed is extremely narrow before widening in the upper part of the Mostnica to reveal the idyllic Voje Valley with its rolling meadows and traditional Slovenian holiday homes. At the end of the valley is Voje waterfall. A packed lunch is included today, as well as on all walking days, for both the moderate and the challenging route.

Challenging Route
Come with us to discover the beauty of Slovenia! Today’s challenging route will follow the same trail as the moderate walkers initially, but we will continue to Uskovnica, an Alpine pasture on the Pokljuka plain. The Mostnica gorge is the perfect example of the creative and powerful forces of nature. The Mostnica stream has carved out a narrow 2km gorge above the village Stara Fuzina in Bohinj. We can admire the extraordinary rock shapes and pools that the water has created in the gorge as we follow the crystal-clear stream, encountering gorge walls of up to 20m in height. In some places the stream bed is extremely narrow before widening in the upper part of the Mostnica to reveal the idyllic Voje Valley with its rolling meadows and traditional Slovenian holiday homes. At the end of the valley is Voje waterfall. From here, we will continue to Uskovnica and explore more of the trail. A packed lunch is included today, as well as on all walking days, for both the moderate and the challenging route.

Walking Day 2
Moderate Route
Let’s explore another beautiful gorge today, Vintgar Gorge, a 1.6km gorge that was carved by the Radovna River. Marvel at the vertical rocks of the Hom and Boršt hills as we pass by the gorges waterfalls, pools and rapids along an elevated wooden trail ending at a bridge overlooking the 13m high Sum waterfall. Afterwards we will walk up to Hom hill, where we will discover the church of St. Katarina. Continue on to Lake Bled and enjoy some free time here before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Challenging Route
During our hike today, we will explore the beautiful Vintgar gorge, a 1.6km gorge that was carved by the Radovna River. Marvel at the vertical rocks of the Hom and Boršt hills as we pass by the gorges’ waterfalls, pools and rapids along an elevated wooden trail ending at a bridge overlooking the 13m high Sum waterfall. From here we will walk up to Hom hill, where we will discover the church of St. Katarina. Our adventure continues as we split from the moderate group here and continue our hike to Ojstrica and Osojnica peaks, offering a beautiful view to Lake Bled and the surrounding mountains.

Today you will have a full day at leisure. You may chose to rest and recuperate at your hotel or enjoy some independent exploration in the Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj areas. Your local expert guide will be happy to make suggestions on places to eat, drink, shop, sightsee and explore in your free time. The possibilities to keep you entertained are endless and the choice is all yours!
Walking Day 3
Moderate route
This morning it will be time to say goodbye to our base in Lake Bohinj as we transfer by coach to Kranjska Gora, an alpine town nestled in the Sava Dolinka Valley of northwest Slovenia. There is lots for us to discover in Kranjska Gora, as it enjoys an enviable location near the mountains and glacial lakes of Triglav National Park. During the winter months, Kranjska Gora is Slovenia's largest ski resort but is also an ideal place for hiking with endless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts during the summer months. (Driving distance 70km / approximate duration 1 hour and 15 minutes).
We will embark on our walking day en route from Lake Bohinj to Lake Bled, checking in to our hotel in the evening. Today’s adventure will take us to the Martuljek waterfalls. Starting in Gozd Martuljek, we will walk through Jasenje Planina, where we can see traditional Slovenian mountain huts and a local chapel, towards Mt Spik, underwhich we will uncover the Martuljek waterfalls. The upper waterfall is particularly impressive, descending in three levels over a 100m vertical wall.

Challenging route
This morning it will be time to say goodbye to our base in Lake Bohinj as we transfer by coach to Kranjska Gora, an alpine town nestled in the Sava Dolinka Valley of northwest Slovenia. Come with us today as we climb to the summit of Golica. Begin walking from the small alpine village Planina pod Golico, through forests, in order to reach the meadows on the slopes of the Karavanks mountain range. Hike towards the mountain hut before reaching the top of Golicia, from which we will have views of Slovenia to one side and Austria to the other.

Walking Day 4
Moderate route
Let’s explore the Triglavska Bistrica trail together! We will begin our day in the Vrata valley in the heart of the Julian Alps towards the base of the northern wall of Slovenia's highest peak, Triglav. We will stop along the way at the stunning Peričnik Falls before continuing along the trail under the Galleries, a series of hollowed conglomerate rocks which have been eroded by the stream. The last stop of the day will be the Aljazev dom mountain hut in Vrata valley, the largest glacial valley on the north side of the Julian Alps.

Challenging route
Today's challenging route will take you to Luknja. Begin walking in the Vrata valley, walking along the Triglavska Bistrica trail before starting to slowly climb above the forest to see the surrounding mountains rising above the valley of Zadnjica.

Walking Day 5
Moderate route
Our final day of adventure will take us to Slemenova Spica, a wonderful grassy viewpoint in the Julian Alps. The coach will take us to Vrsic mountain pass which is 1611m above sea level and from here we will begin walking across the plateau which is surrounded by mountains. We will have the chance to see some of the most beautiful Slovenian peaks along the way, including Mt. Jalovec and Mt. Mangart. Upon reaching Slemenova Spica we will have views down towards the Planica valley, which has been made famous by the Planica ski jumps. From here we will continue by coach to explore Isonzo river where we can admire the beautiful Small Soca gorge and take a walk down to The Great Soca gorge. Our next stop will be a photo stop at Kluze fortress, a majestic fort above the Koritnica gorge. It is one of the most visited cultural sights in the Soca valley and is an important monument to the defence against Turkish invasions, Napoleon’s army and attacks during WW1. The coach will take us along Predil pass by Predil lake as we make our way back to Kranjska Gora.

Challenging route
Let’s uncover some more of Slovenia’s beauty. The challenging route will also begin with the coach taking us to Vrsic mountain pass, 1611m above sea level, and from here we will begin walking through shrubbery pines and up slopes of broken rock fragments towards Vrsic peak. We will trek along the Isonzo trail to Slemenova Spica, during which we can admire the mountain peaks above the Soca River. From here we will continue by coach to explore Isonzo river where we can admire the beautiful Small Soca gorge and take a walk down to The Great Soca gorge. Our next stop will ber a photo stop at Kluze fortress, a majestic fort above the Koritnica gorge. It is one of the most visited cultural sights in the Soca valley and is an important monument to the defence against Turkish invasions, Napoleon’s army and attacks during WW1. The coach will take us along Predil pass by Predil lake as we make our way back to Kranjska Gora.

Transfer to airport
After breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to Slovenia as you make the journey back over the border towards Venice Airport in Italy for your return flight home. (Driving distance 244 km / approximate duration 2 hours and 40 minutes)
