Patagonia is a place of vast landscapes, dramatic peaks, glaciers and remote wilderness. Sitting at the southern end of South America, it’s made for travellers who want to get outdoors and see somewhere completely different. Hike through mountain landscapes, sail past wildlife and get up close to enormous glaciers. Here are just a few reasons to put a trip to Patagonia on your list.
Visit Ushuaia - The End of the World

Sitting at the southern tip of Argentina, Ushuaia is known as the "End of the World". Surrounded by mountains and the waters of the Beagle Channel, it’s also a great starting point for discovering this remote corner of Patagonia.
Spend time around the waterfront and colourful streets before visiting the Maritime Museum, housed in Ushuaia’s former prison. Inside, you can learn about the area's maritime history, early explorers and the prisoners who once lived here.
Experience the Wild Beauty of Tierra del Fuego

Just outside Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego National Park brings together forests, lakes, mountains and rugged coastline. Get out on foot to discover its trails and see the landscapes that make this part of Argentina so distinctive.
You can also ride the famous End of the World Train, which follows a historic route through Tierra del Fuego and offers another way to take in the scenery.
Sail Through the Beagle Channel

Named after Charles Darwin’s famous expedition ship, the Beagle Channel is a gateway to some of Patagonia’s most extraordinary marine wildlife. As you sail through the channel, keep an eye out for sea lions, cormorants and other seabirds along the rocky islands and open waters.
Along the way, you’ll also see Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, standing on a small rocky island against the surrounding Patagonian landscape.
See the Perito Moreno Glacier Up Close

The sheer scale of the Perito Moreno Glacier is difficult to appreciate until you see it for yourself. Walk along the viewing platforms for different perspectives across the ice, listening for the cracks and rumbles as the glacier shifts.
Then get another perspective from the water, with a boat trip taking you closer to its towering ice walls.
Hike Around El Chaltén

Pull on your walking boots in El Chaltén, one of Patagonia’s best-known hiking destinations. Sitting within Los Glaciares National Park, this small mountain town is surrounded by trails and views towards peaks including Mount Fitz Roy.
Choose between more challenging hikes and gentler walks, with glacial lakes, forests and mountain scenery along the way. It’s one of the best places to discover Patagonia on foot.
Discover Buenos Aires

There’s a very different side of Argentina waiting in Buenos Aires. The capital brings colourful neighbourhoods, historic architecture, food and tango together, making it a lively contrast to your time in Patagonia.
Walk through the streets of La Boca, try an Argentinian steak and catch a tango performance before heading south for the next part of your adventure.
Why a Patagonia Adventure Holiday is Worth the Journey

A trip to Patagonia gets you out into one of South America’s most remarkable landscapes. Hike around El Chaltén, sail the Beagle Channel, discover Tierra del Fuego and see the Perito Moreno Glacier up close.
With Buenos Aires adding a completely different side to your time in Argentina, there’s plenty packed into one adventure. Ready to see Patagonia for yourself?
